Tip 18: Reverse a posted journal with Reverse Transaction

Posted a journal to the wrong account or date? Do not post a correcting journal by hand. Reverse it.

Open the G/L entry (or customer, vendor, bank, FA ledger entry) that came from a journal, and choose Reverse Transaction. Business Central shows every entry in that transaction, posts an exact reversal of all of them (ledger and sub-ledger together, so control accounts stay in step; see direct posting), and marks both as reversed. Then post the journal again correctly.

It works for journal postings. For a posted sales or purchase document, use Correct or Cancel on the posted invoice (which creates and applies a credit memo) rather than a journal. For a posted item journal, reverse is a negative adjustment with the same cost.
