Tip 23: The Change Log: who changed that setting?

When a posting setup, a price or a credit limit changes and nobody admits it, the change log knows.

Tell Me: Change Log Setup → activate → Tables, and choose, per table, whether to log insert, modify and delete for all fields or specific ones. Log the setup tables (General Ledger Setup, posting setups, VAT setup, No. Series), the master data fields that matter (customer credit limit and posting groups, item costing, vendor bank details) and user permissions. Do not log the transactional tables; the ledgers are their own audit trail and the log would be enormous.

Then Change Log Entries shows who changed what from what to what, when. Vendor bank account changes logged and reviewed weekly is one of the cheapest fraud controls there is. Apply a retention policy so the log does not grow forever.
