Tip 31: The cash flow forecast nobody sets up

Business Central can forecast cash from open items, orders, budgets and the job queue, and most businesses never switch it on.

Tell Me: Cash Flow Forecasts → the assisted setup. It builds a forecast from receivables and payables (due dates), open sales and purchase orders, G/L budgets, fixed asset budgets, taxes (VAT due dates), manual revenues and expenses you add (payroll, rent), and optionally the Azure AI prediction of when customers actually pay versus when they are due. Run Suggest Worksheet Lines, register, and the Cash Flow Forecast chart on the Accountant role centre shows the next thirteen weeks.

It is only as good as the due dates and open orders in the system, which is a reason to keep them right. Combined with the Payment Practices and Late Payment Prediction features, it is a working treasury view for the cost of an hour's setup.
